Sara Guevara presents at ACT APA Symposium

September 20, 2012

Last weekend, two of our physiotherapists attended the annual ACT APA (Australian Physiotherapy Association) Symposium in which all the latest scientific research is presented. Some of the high lights of the day included a two hour presentation from an innovator in physiotherapy – Brian Mulligan. He presented his research and ideas on ‘Manual Therapy’ techniques.

One of our physiotherapists Sara Guevara was fortunate enough to also present on the day. She presented her outcomes regarding one of Dicksons veteran clients. Through her new outcome measures she was able to demonstrate the effectiveness of using activity and participation outcome measures in patients with Chronic Pain.

Other speakers presented on information regarding total hip replacements and how physiotherapists can better prepare patients before surgery; as well as finding ways to bridge the gap between our researchers and our clnicians. All in all it was a very informative day and through this we can learn how to improve our treatment and education with our patients.
