Physiotherapists study medical science subjects including anatomy, neuroscience and physiology to develop skills and attitudes necessary for health education and prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with physical disorders and disabilities.
A Physiotherapist is qualified to work in health care systems, both hospital based and privately.
All physiotherapists in Australia are required to be registered by law. Registration as a physiotherapist is only possible after completion of an Undergraduate or Masters university degree in physiotherapy.
Commonly Physiotherapists who studied in Australia have completed a 4 yr Applied Science degree to gain registration. Since the early 2000's, several universities have offered a 2 yr Masters of Physiotherapy program that builds of previous study in the health sciences.
